SEXUAL VIOLENCE IN CONTEXTS OF CONFLICT AND POST-CONFLICT

Abstract

Women and girls who are already vulnerable in times of peace in many societies, pay a heavy
price in contexts of war and socio-political violence (terrorism, chronic internal conflict).
Armed conflict, migration and uprooting exacerbate the inequality of power struggles between
male and female individuals and lead to considerable amplification of the prevalence of
various forms of sexual violence committed against girls and women
