Ethical reflections on the medical participation in religious circumcision. The question is examined in the light of the four principles of biomedical ethics, compaired to other similar medical procedures as the ablation of a sixth finger or the surgery of prominent ears on children. The weighing of a physical risk against immaterial, social or spiritual benefits is also examined.
