Abstract

This interview with Michèle Stanton-Jean, chair of the Joint Committee on the Responsible Conduct of Research, wants to explain the steps of the elaboration and the management processes of the Policy for the Responsible Conduct of Research. Adopted by the three Quebec Research Funds in 2014: Fonds de recherche Nature et technologie, Fonds de recherche Santé and Fonds de recherche Société et culture, this policy provides all the institutions receiving grants from the FRQ with clear procedures on the management of misconduct allegations. Developed through a lengthy revision process of similar policies enforced in Canada, the United States and Europe and consultations with all the actors involved in research: Universities, research centers, hospitals and colleges (CEGEP). The article mentions all the values and the breaches of research integrity on which the Policy rests. It also offers a brief description of what is happening in France to reach the same objectives because Quebec wishes to pursue a collaborative process with France on that essential subject to maintain public trust with the public.
