STRENGTHENING ACCESS TO GENETIC INFORMATION: GENEALOGY OF THE NEW BIOETHICS LAW

The new bioethics law adopted on 2 August 2021 attempts to respond to the current challenges of the use of genetic information and to facilitate access to it. However, the new rules resulting from this text raise a certain number of questions regarding their implementation, particularly with regard to the link with the principles of personal data protection. The legislator has affirmed a real desire to facilitate access to genetic information in situations already provided for by our law. It also had to take a stand on new purposes that may justify wider access to genetic information.
