The radiologist’s responsibility is engaged at every stage of breast imaging and may be considered when a delayed diagnosis of cancer is causing injury due to loss of chance of recovery.
If the radiologist is implicated, he must be able to demonstrate a flawless review technique
and careful reading of images, in accordance with science. Misinterpretation and detection
failure are the two main types of fault, potentially generating misdiagnosis, the radiologist
should know how to avoid.
