THE IMPACT OF PERSONALIZED MEDICINE ON THE ORGANIZATION AND OPERATION OF THE HOSPITAL

The generalization of personalized medicine should
bring about various institutional adaptations within the
hospital, blurring the divisions between research, care
and prevention and organising professional competence
and pertinent action according to the patient's healthcare
delivery pathway. It should also lead to reinforcing the
specialization of hospital departments and practitioners,
in particular with regard to genetics, which should be
included in the organization of the hospitals and the
training of the professionals. On the other hand, the existing legal framework, normative aspects of the care relationship within which the rights and obligations of the
healthcare professionals and the patients fall can only
remain the same, subject to temporary adjustments, such
as in support of a patient who has become the actor and
expert of his own health.
