The purpose of this article is to raise awareness of the still
present violence inflicted on women and its horrifying
impact. Statistics allow us to recognize an underlying problem: the discrimination still undergone by many women
in the world provides for a fertile ground for emotional
and physical violence. It is up to all of us to change this
situation by providing health care, education, security and
law enforcement sectors with the means to act effectively
