Abstract

Since the Ministry of Public Health reported in 2001 the lack of places available for the management of committed patients who are released on probation, our country has seen the setting up of projects develop in order to overcome this lack. Throughout the kingdom, various « forensic psychiatry » units have opened. The aim of this article
is mainly descriptive and is based on the listing of different information about the characteristics of the patients,
hospitalisation data, follow-up data…. so as to shed light on the working of these forensic units after 8 years. To
do this, the observations are centred on two units, the “Itéas” in Tournai and “Hegoa” in Brussels
