Abstract

First of all, what is bitumen?
In common parlance we confuse "bitumen" with
" tar ".
But the "tar" comes from the distillation of coal
whereas "bitumen" comes from oil refining!
It is a black product, very viscous, ultimate residue
extremely toxic and polluting which encumbers all
tank bottoms and which should be eliminated from the industrial circuit!
It is an extremely complex mixture of heavy hydrocarbons with sulfur and nitrogen derivatives.
However, instead of being eliminated, the tankers (SHELL,
TOTAL) resell the bitumen to companies in
BTP (such as VINCI, EUROVIA, BOUYGUES,
COLAS, EIFFAGE) which will recycle it in huge asphalt mixing plants for the manufacture of this
called "road asphalt"
