Abstract

Protein-energy malnutrition is rarely deadly in industrialized countries because of precocious and adequate
medical treatment. The authors report the case of a 48-year-old woman who was dependent on her husband for
daily actions and died by marasmic kwashiorkor. The consequences of the protein-energy malnutrition and associated
causes of death are also presented
