The war on terror: a catalyst for the renewal of strategic thought?
Abstract
The international system of the Cold War was a very precise one, with an elaborate strategic framework to contain the nuclear threat. The strategic vagueness that prevailed in the years following the collapse of the Soviet Union did not end with the terrorist attacks of September 11. Today, lack of objective analysis and appropriate conceptual tools may result in ill-founded responses and overreaction to terrorism.
