Illicit drug trafficking in Burkina Faso, a growing threat?
Abstract
Among the plethora of various products sold in the markets, remedies for headaches, stomach aches, antimalarials or vaccines are offered on stalls in the sun. Behind the sale of these products hides an illicit traffic known to all, that of the illegal trade in drugs more commonly known as “street drugs” 1. Qualified according to the World Health Organization as “substandard medical products / false / falsely, labeled / falsified / counterfeit ”, these drugs sold illegally represent 1 in 3 drugs on the African continent.
