Abstract

Osteoporosis, a slowly evolutive condition, compromising bone strength, is a highly prevalent
disease, still growing in its incidence. The orthopaedic surgeon is a privileged observer of this
disease, since its revealing event is a fracture, especially the so called “fragility fracture”.
This gradual downgrading of the skeleton mechanical quality, forces the orthopaedic surgeon to reajust his/her role as Patient’s counsel as well as
repair technician of the fractured bony piece. This
reajustment effort requires to be reintegrated in a
multi-specialty medical collaboration, and be
convincing enough to secure full Patient’s cooperation.
