“Miami is America!”

Abstract

In this interview, Miami is shown as an American paradigm due to its inhabitants’ mobility and multilingual capabilities. As the Cuban community is experiencing significant changes, other Latin American and Caribbean communities are emerging, with immigration contributing to the United States’ ethnic and cultural diversity. Close to Latin America but situated in US territory, Miami remains a magnet in spite of all its weaknesses. Beyond stereotypes, the city is an indicator of the evolution of the United States.
