Abstract

It is interesting to identify asymptomatic patients at high risk who may benefit from
more intense medical burden, based on recent recommendations that reduce cardiovascular (CV) risk.
Measurement of intima-media thickness (EIM) in ultrasound
mode B is a sensitive, non-invasive, and reproducible method to identify and quantify preclinical vascular disease and assess cardiovascular risk. For the sake of standardization and improvement
the performance of exploration centers carrying out
quality IMT measurements, this consensus document
provides recommendations for ultrasonic examination of the carotids to identify and quantify vascular disease at a preclinical stage and to assess the risk
cardiovascular in clinical practice
