In a series of 1716 varicose vein patients operated on consecutively over a period of 7 years, 640 were selected because of the presence of varicose veins of the feet. Our choice of treatment was to perform total excision
of these varicose networks, either as part of total limb surgery, or specifically in cases of
recurrence of the feet after previous treatments. The first step was to carry out a complete, clinical
and Doppler ultrasound, of the entire lower limb in order to detect all the connections with the varicose veins of the foot.
The second step was to mark the varicose vein network on the skin before the operation, including on the foot, to
be sure to remove everything. The third step was the very meticulous removal of the varicose veins, by incisions of 1 to 3
mm, following the skin marking. All the procedures were performed under local anesthesia.
