Abstract

In recent years the association between testosterone deficiency (TD) and insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes
and metabolic syndrome became glaring. Prospective studies have particularly shown that a
low testosterone (T) predicted later development of diabetes or metabolic syndrome.
Likewise type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome predict the development of TD. Cross-sectional studies
further suggest that both TD and type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome are associated with impaired erectile function, with decreased penile blood flow. In addition four studies with group
