Abstract

At the very moment when PRC’s President « China Dream » seems to irrevocably shift toward the totalitarian idea of a “people-one,” it is time to reaffirm a critic that hold at arm length both China Bashing proponents as well as a suspicious form of tolerance, in the name of cultural difference. Arif Dirlik proposes – in a sum recently published – an articulated critic, dense and sophisticated, of different features of Chinese development, whose political, social, economic, ecological, cultural consequences come to modify for good the configuration of the world as we knew it, not always for the best. This article proposes an overview.
