Hormonal contraception and dyslipidemia

According to the recommendations of the HAS in
2015, it is not necessary to request a lipid profile
before prescribing hormonal contraception if there
is no personal or family history of dyslipidemia or
arterial vascular accident occurred before the age
of 50 years. However, hormonal contraception has
an impact on lipid metabolism according to its type
and its dissemination. The negligible metabolic
effect of contraception by progestins explain that
they are preferred in women with dyslipidemia
or metabolic risks
