Abstract

The unprecedented health crisis of COVID-19 has forced the IMF, the World Bank and the G20 in a good consensus to vote for debt relief for the most indebted countries, especially the CEMAC countries, with China in the center of discussions. Some fear that a malicious China may take ad-vantage of this COVID-19 crisis to seize strategic assets. Others report that a benevolent China has already «wiped out» the debt of many CEMAC countries. However, we observe an evolution of the debt according to an exponential curve which seems to be dangerous and could create a situation of economic dependence vis-à-vis China.
